my wife karyn has a blog dedicated to her family, faith and her hobbies such as needlepoint – you can find it at the teakettle corner…

my oldest son sean is also very involved online and has had numerous blogs – he recently started a podcast on the state of the video game industry, something he’s studying in college hoping one day to be a video game developer…

finally my youngest son ian has recently started a videoblog, capturing and posting to his youtube channel most days hoping to do this for an entire year – or basically for his senior year of high school and as he prepares to enter college next fall…

he started in july w/ a camp that included the varsity. regular season practice started in august, first w/ conditioning and then into pads for a couple weeks before the first scrimmage. the first game of the year was canceled due to weather, but all the rest of the games were played as scheduled. he played both ways all season – mostly at right tackle on offense and tackle of nose guard on defense. he recovered a couple of fumbles, had many good blocks and some good tackles – he showed improvement all season. all freshman players got an email from the varsity coach after their last game on thanksgiving day welcoming them to the varsity squad. they’ll be lifting weights over the winter and they have an inter-squad game in the spring to look forward to…

fun season (set is here) – looking forward to jv and maybe some varsity games next year…

i took lots of video – need to edit it and then will post that too…

sean (17) is a pirate and ian (14) is barney rubble…

by high school age they no longer are that interested in trick-or-treating but they do still like to costume it up for school (anything to get out of the uniform for one day)…

they tend to dress in themes based on their friends – so i think they’ll be at least one female pirate and a ton of flintstone characters

sort of sad that they are now to old to trick-or-treat, but since they’re both shaving and not in need of excess candy guess it makes sense…

checkout the height similarity – i think ian will be patting both sean and i on the head shortly…

overnight he seems to have grown up – he needs to shave but wants to wait until after football season…

his brother sean has been shaving since the 7th grade – so we’re use to it w/ him (he grows a full beard in two days)…

this shot of him at the rival westhill game last week is a good indicator of how he’s matured physically and stretched out…

its fun to watch him since he’s been looking forward to high school football for a few years now…

sean and ian had to start wearing their blazers and ties today – so i got them to quickly pose for a shot before sean drove them off to school…

seems like only yesterday that ian was heading off to 1st grade, and sean the 4th grader was showing him the ropes – now this time next year sean will be away at college – time flies, and the various stages of your kids can really mark it

all good times though – wouldn’t trade it for any other way…

on the day of a game, the players wear their jersey’s to school over their uniforms – sean did the same thing when he played hockey…

last week’s game got called because of a really bad thunderstorm – but this week’s should have really good weather and is due to be in the low 60’s – perfect early fall football weather…

he’s playing darien @ their field, a neighboring town w/ lots of history (competitive) – should be fun…

ian team has played two scrimmages so far, both against local traditional powerhouse public high schools: greenwich (tied) and new canaan (beat) – their showing was good especially considering the size differences in school population and team size in general…

regular season starts this upcoming week and the team seems ready, as does ian – we found out he’ll be starting on both offense and defense as a tackle…

he’s always been a good offensive tackle (this photo is of ian blocking on offense), but defense has been a challenge for him up until now – though this year he definately seems to be getting it…

my youngest just started his freshman year of high school, and he’s a football player so mid-summer he started preparing w/ the team for the upcoming season…

he been playing organized football since 5th grade, always as a lineman – usually starting both ways (offensive and defensive tackle)…

he’s been looking forward to high school football for years – he loves the exercise, camaraderie, challenge and pure physical nature of the sport – and we love watching him…

this photo is from a summer camp his team went to and is part of an ongoing set that i’ll be adding to as the fall season progresses…

plus i assume i’ll be taking some video too – just not sure what online service i’ll end up using for those…

as for this blog – i hope to get some time to tweak it, typepad is still much easier and more robust but i know that will change once i get some time to troll around the great wordpress resources that are available…
